The issue was, Rocket League was a huge risk for the company to release initially, because it cost a lot of money and would have made the company bankrupt if it failed. And since it didn't release with microtransactions, or planned to have that many ahead of time, it had to be a pay to play game.

- Yeah. I really hate this. It's infuriating that a game like Rocket League can have cross platform play between PC and consoles. And yet...here we're starting to see PC clients that can't even play together. Totally disheartening and will get in the way of growth. The last thing VR needs is segmentation.
- Although I already owned Project Cars on steam, which is now updated to work with 1.3, I wouldn't have bought the oculus store version for this exact reason.. and likely won't buy any other games, if they are on steam.
At least with Project cars on steam I have the best of both worlds. MP with all my friends and still VR through the rift as an unknown source.
Of course, Oculus exclusives / VR only stuff, then yeah I will buy on the Home if they interest me enough.CV1: Ordered 6th Jan 2016 - Est Delivery Some time in May...
DK2: Ordered: 8th of Aug 2014 - Delivered: 14 Oct 2014 - edited April 2016If that is true then Oculus will need to work on some compatibility solution. Steam is too strong to compete with like that. I can see my self to use Oculus Home along site with Steam but if I will have to choose between those two- steam wins every day
- This appears to be something Oculus created and are the only ones that can fix it ... will they ? Possibly, else it is the beginning of unnecessary & unwanted segregation & monopolization to maximise profit at the expense of the end-user. Sure hope someone there wakes up & realises this is not a good thing for the widespread acceptance of VR in gaming.
- So, if I want the best of both worlds, if it's available on Steam, buy it there? I won't play in VR 100% of the time (nice ACER Predator x34).
No, its Valve. The project cars runs on Steamworks. Valve wants people to buy games from them and not Oculus, Origin, Uplay,Square Enix, etc, etc. , Valve has no incentive to allow it.This appears to be something Oculus created and are the only ones that can fix it ... will they ? This is true, it's something Valve created, not Oculus, although wouldn't it be great if games purchased in Oculus Home came with a steam key (where appropriate) just like some steam stuff comes with a compatible oculus home key (virtual desktop is my example of such)

In the case of Project Cars though, this isn't straightforward, since they are different versions (DLC content wise).. maybe that's because Oculus home isn't geared up for DLC content yet ??
Elite Dangerous however, I have the standard Frontier Key, Steam Key and Oculus Home key, can't ask for better than thatCV1: Ordered 6th Jan 2016 - Est Delivery Some time in May...

Which site did you originally get ED from and why, if I may ask?Elite Dangerous however, I have the standard Frontier Key, Steam Key and Oculus Home key, can't ask for better than that0 - If you buy directly from frontier you get all three keys
- I don't know about Project Cars but Elite dangerous only has one set of servers. It does not matter how you log in, you will be playing on the same servers as everyone else.
- if you buy on steam with all the dlc u get a home store key
id check the validity of that before purchasing tho - Thank all of you for the ED portion, issue solved.
Now, the Pcars issue.
If I understand correctly, the GOTY edition comes out in May. Can I assume then Steam is the way to go for Pcars? I will most likely only play that solo or with people on this forum. - my post was about Pcars that I neglected to mention
if you buy (project cars) on steam with all the DLC u get a home store key - steam thread about it all here

info on keys is somwhere in this 70 page thread
http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?43740-Oculus-Rift-CV1-Discussion/page44 - Thanks and found this directly from Pcars site:
'When Project CARS launches on the Oculus Store it will come complete with all the On Demand content added so far over the last year in addition to further VR-specific improvements coming to the Oculus version.
When Project CARS Game Of The Year Edition launches, all purchasers of the game on Oculus Store will then automatically get upgraded to this version too.'

I purchased from Frontier during the alpha stage.
